ICI Conveys a New Voice to the International Academic Circles: A Review of the Policy of Curriculum Reform in Senior High Schools in China

2019-09-24

As the "National Team" of curriculum reform in China, ICI has always insisted on promoting China's curriculum action from a global perspective and sharing China's curriculum experience on the international stage. On the one hand, the research group led by Professor Cui Yunhuo has deeply participated in the revision of the new round of ordinary high school curriculum programs and curriculum standards, and is currently working on the revision of the national curriculum programs and curriculum standards in the stage of compulsory education. On the other hand, ICI has also actively carried out international exchanges, produced international academic achievements, and become a "propaganda station" for transmitting the latest and most Chinese-characteristic curriculum programs to the world.

Associate Professor Wang Tao

Assistant Director of ICI, ECNU

Recently, Associate Professor Wang Tao published an article entitled “Competence for Students' Future: Curriculum Change and Policy Redesign in China” in the English publication ECNU Review of Education.

Associate Professor Wang Tao was involved in the translation of the General Senior High School Curriculum Program (2017 edition), and currently serves as the secretary of the expert group on the revision of the national compulsory education curriculum program, assisting in the preliminary basic research and program revision of the compulsory education curriculum program. Combined with his own research and policy service experience, he focuses on the major changes in ordinary high school curriculum programs and standards, and discusses the hidden historical background, social reality, decision-making efforts and practical difficulties behind these policy changes.

With the help of ECNU Review of Education, an international platform for telling Chinese education stories, Associate Professor Wang Tao not only shared his keen observation and deep thinking on national policy changes as a researcher, but also as an witness, communicated with the world in international academic language and conveyed the real voice of curriculum reform in China.
