Recently, ECNU announced the results of the evaluation of the High-end Foreign Expert Project in 2020. In view of Professor Deng Zongyi’s outstanding academic achievements and outstanding international influence, Professor Deng Zongyi from the School of Education of University College London, has been formally recruited as a high-end foreign expert of East China Normal University in 2020.

The High-end Foreign Expert Project is a major project of East China Normal University that focus on the development goals and strengthen the construction of first-class disciplines. It employs profound academic attainments who enjoy high popularity and has made great achievements in a certain discipline field.

Professor Deng Zongyi is an internationally renowned scholar in the field of curriculum and instruction. He worked as a professor of School of Education at University College London since December 2019. For more than a decade, he has been the executive editor of Journal of Curriculum Studies, which is one of the top SSCI journals in curriculum research.

Professor Deng received his doctorate from Michigan State University in 1997, then worked as an assistant professor and associate professor at the National School of Education of Nanyang Technological University, and served as an associate professor at the University of Hong Kong for three years.

Professor Deng Zongyi is an old friend and long-term partner of ICI. He has participated in the Shanghai International Curriculum Forum twice and served as the keynote speaker of the forum. He is also a member of the editorial board of the International Book Department of ICI.

Professor Deng will provide his advises in the following three aspects:

1. Set up a workshop on “Frontiers of International Curriculum Theory” for graduate students.

2. Set up a workshop on “Telling the International Story of Chinese Curriculum” for young scholars.

3. To provide advices on improving ICI’s international development and international influence.
