From January 2 to 5, 2024, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government Education Bureau Delegation (hereinafter referred to as "the Delegation") visited Shanghai with a focus on "Digital Education" to explore digital education empowerment for teacher professional development. This visit aimed to understand the policies, development trends, challenges, and opportunities of digital education in Mainland China, as well as the current status of how mainland universities utilize artificial intelligence assessment systems and big data technology in educational research and development. The Delegation consisted of 28 members, including Ms. Lee Wai-ping, the Chief Assistant Secretary of the Education Bureau; Mr. KUNG Kwong-pui, a member of the Committee on Professional Development of Teachers and Principals; and several experts from the HKSAR Government Education Bureau, members of the Committee on Professional Development of Teachers and Principals, primary and secondary school principals, and experts from Hong Kong universities.

In April 2023, Mrs. Choi Yuk-lin, the Secretary for Education of HK, led a delegation to visit Shanghai and observed the International Classroom Analysis Laboratory at the ICI. Mrs. Choi expressed her anticipation for further cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland universities in the fields of artificial intelligence and education. This recent visit in January 2024 serves as a deepening of the exchange and visit from April of the last year, aiming to lay a more solid foundation for future exchanges and cooperation.
