On September 7, it is informed from Shanghai Municipal Education Commission’s website that after college recommendation, expert review, online publicity and other procedures, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission decided to award 101 people the title of “Oriental Scholar”. Prof. Chen Shuangye, a member of ICI, is one of them. It is said that Prof. Chen Shuangye is the only pedagogical scholar in ECNU that successfully run for this title in 2017, and the second professor who has been awarded by this title in Faculty of Education, ECNU ever since.

Prof. Chen Shuangye is “Zijiang Scholar”, she used to work in Chinese University of Hong Kong(CUHK), she came to ICI in 2016. Since Prof. Chen Shuangye worked in ICI, with a number of outstanding achievements, she has demonstrated her outstanding scientific research capability. In February 2017, Prof. Chen Shuangye was commissioned by the Basic Education Curriculum Materials Development Center of the Ministry of Education to start the research on major theoretical and practical problems in educational field. Through the joint effort with Prof. Cui Yunhuo, the report based on the study “cultivate students with moral values” was accepted by the Ministry of Education. Then, Guangming Daily published a part of the report (May 9, 2017,13 version).

In June 2017, the social science department of ECNU publicized the list of proposed projects in 2017, at last, 12 projects were eventually selected. The project of Prof. Chen Shuangye, which named “The forms of organization and the value of knowledge under marketization: A case and theoretical study on curriculum setting for undergraduate students according to the market situation”, is on the list. This project is one of the two projects in educational field that successfully applied. On July 14, the list of project proposals for the 2017 National Education Science "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" was announced. There are totally 15 projects of ECNU received funding. Prof. Chen Shuangye’s project “” is one of the 15.

Shanghai “Oriental Scholar” plan was started at the end of 2007, mainly subsidize high level academic leaders who have learnt and worked abroad and now contribute to Shanghai academic development. Shanghai Municipal Education Commission subsidize a million yuan to each Oriental Scholar per 3 years, and support them in many ways, such as working environment and so on.
