Professor Kuhn from Columbia University Joins the ICI as an Honorary Professor of East China Normal University

On the morning of May 10th, Prof. Dai Liyi, a Vice President of ECNU, presented the letter of appointment of ECNU Honorary Professor to Prof. Deanna Kuhn from Columbia University, and then he delivered a speech.
Honorary Professor is the highest honorary title that ECNU awards to experts and scholars outside China, the experts are well-acquainted with academic achievements and high reputation. They have achieved major achievements in a certain subject area and are recognized by international academic circles.
Prof. Kuhn is an academic leading figure in developmental psychology, curriculum and instruction theory and science education, and she has formed a research group with clear-cut and far-reaching influence. In 2016, Professor Kuhn was elected as a member of the National Academy of Education. Her book The Skills of Debate profoundly influenced the science curriculum standards and textbooks for primary and secondary schools in the United States, and promoted scientific classroom teaching reforms that lead to disputes and cooperation.
In view of Professor Kuhn’s outstanding academic achievements and the need for the development of ICI, in February 2018, ICI formally applied for hiring Prof. Kuhn as honorary professor at East China Normal University. The appointment ceremony was hosted by Prof. Chen Shuangye, deputy director of the institute. The teachers and students of ICI and other 200 experts who participated in the 194th Daxia forum witnessed the appointment ceremony of Prof. Kuhn.
